Case study
GRASSWORKS
For the Grassworks research project involving several universities and research institutions, we developed a logo, a website and PowerPoint templates for posters and presentations.

GRASSWORKS is a project funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, dedicated to the protection and restoration of species-rich grasslands in Germany. The project brings together experts from renowned institutions such as Leuphana University of Lüneburg, Anhalt University of Applied Sciences, the Thünen Institute, the Technical University of Munich, the University of Greifswald and the German Association for Landscape Conservation.
The GRASSWORKS website serves as a central platform for communicating the project and its scientific findings. The site is bilingual (German and English) and has been manually translated to ensure that the content is presented accurately and clearly in both languages. The website’s design was developed based on the project’s clear and professional corporate identity, which reflects both its scientific rigour and its aesthetic appeal.
The GRASSWORKS website is technically up to date: it is based on WordPress, is fast and responsive, and places great emphasis on data protection. The site is designed to minimise data usage and employs a data-protection-oriented analytics tool. A discreet cookie banner provides users with transparent information about the use of cookies.
Particular emphasis is placed on the blog, which regularly reports on the project’s progress and findings. The posts are organised by categories and tags, and feature a search function and author profiles. In addition, the site offers a newsletter subscription that automatically notifies subscribers of new blog posts.
Interactive pages provide a comprehensive insight into the various aspects of the research project, with the information presented in a way that is accessible to both experts and interested members of the public. The GRASSWORKS website combines academic rigour with user-friendliness and serves as a central hub for anyone committed to the conservation of species-rich grassland.
In collaboration with researchers from Grassworks at Leuphana, the project’s fundamental objectives and concepts were first identified and refined. A corporate identity was developed based on this framework. The focus was on clarity and professionalism, whilst at the same time emphasising intuitive usability and accessibility. The resulting design guidelines formed the basis for the development of a distinctive logo, a website to communicate the project and its results, and other visual elements. During the design process, particular attention was paid to ensuring the design was aesthetically appealing whilst also being scientifically accurate.
Tailored specifically to the needs of the academic community, we have created PowerPoint templates with various layouts for presentations and academic posters. Thanks to our academic background, we know how to design and structure the templates so that they are as versatile, user-friendly and aesthetically pleasing as possible. The aim was to make researchers’ work easier whilst enhancing the professional standard of their work.
