The Müritz National Park is the largest terrestrial national park in Germany and stretches through the Mecklenburg Lake District and Feldberg Lake District.

Our task was to revise the pictograms of the rules for visiting and using the park’s land and waters. The aim was to standardise, modernise and improve the comprehensibility of the pictograms. As they are not only used in infographics and print media, but also throughout the national park area, sometimes without accompanying text, the design challenge was to ensure that the message was clearly recognisable and communicated from a distance and without further context. To support this, the design of the pictograms was based on the results of research into already established symbols and pictograms. In order to achieve uniformity, precise design guidelines were drawn up, which were taken into account when designing each individual pictogram. The end result is over 50 pictograms that will soon be found throughout the national park.
